Come and test your head for heights. Or choose to go a bit further. From the powerful yet fragile position of mastering a rock face (with the help of a guide and the presence of the rope), take another look at yourself and the world around you. Interdependence, decision-making, self-awareness, leadership, nature’s power and fragility – all come to mind.
Get ready for the activity:
Effort level: A good level of physical fitness required, but not former climbing experience needed. Not suitable for anyone susceptible to vertigo.
Terrain: Possible approach walk on mountain paths. Rock climbing on a pre-prepared rock face close to the centre of town.
Who with: Accompanied by Chamonix mountain guides
What you need to bring:
All climbing equipment (harness, rope and helmets) will be provided.
D. WALK IN THE WOODS
Saturday 17 September • 12.00-18.00 • Outdoor
Together with a forest bathing practitioner let the trees on the shaded paths of Chamonix lower your stress level, raise your immunity and generally improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
Get ready for the activity:
Effort level: 2 – 3 hours or so walk, little height gain, gentle pace
Terrain: Earth and gravel paths amidst the trees (beware the roots!)

C. MULTI-DIMENSIONAL HIKE

Hike up to, around and back from a magnificent panoramic view point in the company of best selling author and Sophrology practitioner, Dominique Antiglio. Thanks to her reflections together with short and dynamic practices along the
way combining breathing, visualisation and movement, we will explore how our perspective and perception can change not simply because of where we are but also the frame of mind we adopt before, during and after an experience.

Effort level: 3 hour hike with height gain of about 300 m (990 feet) to a maximum altitude of 2,115 m (6,940 feet)
Terrain: Gravel and earth mountain paths, with a short passage on slate (protected with a rope barrier)

B. LOOK & LISTEN HIKE

Accompanied by a geophysicist, enjoy a demanding hike while witnessing and getting a better grasp of the impact climate change is having on the Alpine mountain environment.

Effort level: 4 – 5 hour demanding hike with c. 400m height gain. Very good physical fitness and some experience of hiking in the mountains required, not suitable for anyone with a fear of heights
Terrain: steep mountain paths (earth and gravel) and sections on rocks at an altitude of 2,000 m (6,500 feet)
